Once upon a time—four ETH Globals ago—two DevRels finally met in person after months of “Can you see my screen?” calls. The vibes matched, so one said: “Let’s do a Hacker House!” The other added, “Why stop there? Let’s throw in workshops and a hackathon too!”
And just like that, the planning began 🚀
Kicking Off in Ho Chi Minh
We landed on Ho Chi Minh City in August, just before ETH Vietnam.

Invitations: sent ✅

Venue: booked ✅
•
A week of hacking, ZK talks, workshops, and late-night sketch-debates: in progress ✅
Walking into the house for the first time, I knew we made the right call. In the heart of the city, just across from a park (with a pond full of ducks 🦆😍), the space instantly felt like the right home for builders.
From August 4–11, our Hacker House became a hub where ideas moved from notebooks to repos to real collaborations. Mornings kicked off with coffee and technical workshops, followed by breakfasts tailored to every resident’s needs.
Workshops
What’s the best way to start a hackathon? With a full day of workshops, of course 🤩
We kicked things off with zkVerify and Horizen, then brought in partners EZKL and MoPro to expand the toolkit for our hackers.
Highlights included:
•
EZKL’s JSeam showing how ML models can be converted into arithmetic circuits for SNARKs & STARKs.
•
MoPro’s session demonstrating ZK proofs generated directly on mobile devices (a crowd favorite).
Hacking in Action
Over 48 hours, 18 hackers worked day and night, submitting 13 projects 🚀
Most leaned into privacy use cases: private transactions, stealth addresses, cross-chain bridges, privacy-preserving loan platforms, even games. We debated privacy across sectors—from SIM provider tracking to anonymizing sensitive personal data with ZK.
And the Winners 🎉
Horizen & zkVerify – Best overall use of zkVerify on Horizen
🥇 DarkMint — Ethereum native privacy with ZK proofs. Efficient account state proving + double-spend prevention 🌑🟢
🥈 Tachyon — A privacy-preserving bridge between Horizen and Base. TEE for private address management + zkVerify for proof verification 🌉

Horizen – Best privacy use case app
🥇 Ninja Bridge — Private bridging between Horizen and Base using TEEs 🥷
🥈 UnWallet — Privacy pools + stealth addresses for end-to-end anonymity 🫣

Wen Next Hacker House?
Our first Hacker House in Ho Chi Minh set the tone for what’s next. We’re beyond excited to keep growing this community, supporting builders, and exploring new formats to spark collaboration.
And the next stop is already locked in: New Delhi, India — September 22–30 🎉
We’ll be bringing the same ZK energy with a full Hacker House experience, complete with workshops and our Verified Hackathon.

This was just the beginning. More cities, more builders, same ZK spark.
See you in New Delhi 😉
